Children and Technology: Growing Up in the Modern World

We all know how technology has changed our lives and the how we depend on it so much that it is almost impossible to go on for a day without technology. It has certainly made our lives both simple and complicated. It has pervaded every single part of our life that we depend on it more than anything in this world. The generation z has pretty much had technology around them the day they were born, and sometimes they get too addicted to it.

These days we can see how kids operate smartphones and other digital devices much better than the adults in the family. Children tend to learn a lot of things with the help of technology at a very young age.

Technology has completely changed the way we look at education and children these days have so much opportunity to learn and connect with others from different parts of the world to share their ideas and knowledge. Gone are the days when we have to search for information from the book to book. Children these days have the opportunity to get any piece of information with just a click of a button. Schools are replacing books with computers and other digital devices to enable children to learn better.

We have created technology so that it would help us save time and we could use that time to do something efficiently. But it did not exactly turn out that way. Kids these days hardly go out to play and find it so hard to do any physical work. We often find kids glued to the computer or television and never do any chores. Parents struggle to make their children experience the childhood they had but often end up in utter failure.

Back in those days in many cultures, mothers fed their children by showing the moon and all the things that were around them. These days, kids get so adamant that they demand a smartphone if their parents want them to do something. Technology has consumed children these days, and many kids have gotten addicted to it. It is quite sad to see kids sitting in front of the TV when they have to be running around the exploring the real world.

Children these days have various options to communicate and interact with other people, and thus they can share ideas and knowledge with people all over the world. There are so many social media sites which makes interaction much easier. However, parents need to make sure that their children are communicating with the right person as the internet is filled with many fraudsters.

Technology has definitely brought about many good things and bad things at the same time. You need to monitor what your children are doing with technology constantly. Never let technology consume them and teach them that they need to use in the right way.

Five Values You Should Teach Your Children

They say children are one of the greatest gifts from God and you will not truly feel gifted unless you have a child of your own. Parenting is no easy job; if you expect your child to be kind and responsible, you need to first teach that to them. Don’t expect to behave in unruly behaviour and expect your kids to be good. Children learn from their parents, and they will behave and act just like their parents.

The following are some of the values that you must definitely teach your children:

You children get exposed to so many things in this world, and they learn at a very young age on how to cheat others to get various things done. As a parent, you need to teach them the value of honesty and how it will help them in their life. Most children are scared of punishments are thus tend to be dishonest. Always encourage them to tell the truth no matter what situation they are in, and it will build their character.

One thing which people never learn in life is humility. In life, we indirectly put people down through our behaviour. Being humble is the quality of respecting others; it is when you keep calm when the others around you are filled with boastfulness and vanity. How many times have we destroyed relationships or the character of a person by malicious gossip? Sometimes our heart is filled with prejudice, and it separates us from our families and loved ones. Teach your children how to be humble so that they will learn to respect others.

In this world where you get everything instantaneously, you need to teach your child how to stay patient. They need to learn to wait to get many things in life. There are certain things in life which you can get only when you have some patience. For example, you can teach your kids that there are no shortcuts in winning a race and the same thing should be applied in life.

Some kids can grow up to be very arrogant, and it will affect their character. Teach your child how to be kind to one another so that they will learn the art of loving and sharing with others. Tell them how important it is to be polite with others even when they are arrogant.

Do not make your child believe that they will get whatever they want in life without any efforts. Teach them how nothing in this world is permanent and that everything will go away one day. Encourage them to fight for a good cause and be determined to achieve their dreams. If they do something good, appreciate them and make them feel encouraged; this will help them to achieve great things in life.
